Beinn Bhuidhe

Walk to Beinn Bhuidhe (454 metres)

Summit height 454m total height ascended approximately 466m + approximately 12.6km.

At the junction of the B849 Drimnin Lochaline Road with the road down the hill to Bonnavoulin follow the track up hill North East which bypasses Mungosdail Farm, going two new buildings. Follow this track past the farm and continue up through Mungosdail Forest now owned by Drimnin Estate. Stay on the forestry track until a small sign highlights the route over to Barr via a grassed path that winds its way North East through a substantial gap in the trees. The path comes out on to the open moorland via a gate and to the North West is Lochan-Chrois-Bheinn.

To the South East just beyond the rickety fence line is a small prominent stone; a Cross Marked Stone is indicated on the O.S. Map, albeit this small rock has no visible markings on it now. Follow the ridge to the South East on to the plateau; here the moorland opens up on to a tussock grassed top with many peat bogs and lochans. In Winter these lochans have an attraction of their own. The actual highest point is 454m however the trig point is located to the western edge at 451m.

The views are very good from the summit on a clear day, with the Sound of Mull prominent to the West; Sithean na Raplaich at 551m is unmissable to the South East, however another route will be taken to visit that summit.
